Q: What English centres are there in Ho Chi Minh city?
Although a lot of expats and foreigners work as English teachers in Saigon, it is still best to go to a legitimate English Centres to make sure that you’re really getting your money’s worth. A lot of Vietnamese take lessons if they want to work overseas, and of course, other nationalities are more than welcome to join in. Here’s a list of centres you can choose from:

The Council is a non-profit organisation and is registered in the UK as a charity. The British Council offers a wide range of part-time English courses, which are specially designed to help adults or children of all ages and ability levels to learn, use and improve their English. The Council has multinational teachers and modern facilities that include LCD, DVD, TV, laptops, a library and self-study space. Students are also granted free access to online guides, printed handouts and library lending.

First opened in 2000 and now with 37 centres around the country, ILA Vietnam is a foreign owned education and training company offering a broad range of educational programmes and services, including English language programmes for children (from 2.5 years old) and adults, international test preparation such as exam preparation (for IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC), corporate training, overseas study consultancy, and placement services. All students are level-tested by the teachers and placed in the appropriate level. A large majority of classes are for young learners. ILA requires its native English Speaking teachers to have a BA and a teaching certification such as the CELTA, and offers the course through its teacher-training department.

A member of the Pearson group, which is present in 28 countries, and only for adults (individuals and corporate), this non-traditional method mixes multimedia with, native English-speaking and certified teachers (BA and CELTA). There is a maximum of four students per teacher. With all their methods online, they work together on e-learning. Students are tested every time they study, then pass or have to start their lesson again. The programme offers 20 different levels, designed to meet the TOEFL and ALS requirements.
