The Airline now operates in eight major North American airports: Chicago is the latest to join Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver. At the same time there are direct flights from Taipei to no less than 29 Chinese destinations. They also cover six major cities in Europe: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Paris, Vienna.
EVA Air has just announced an additional departure from Ho Chi Minh City that starts operating from July 7 2016. This brings the number of daily departures from Vietnam to three from Ho Chi Minh City and one from Hanoi. Using the new Boeing 777-3000ER aircraft these flights offer comfort for economy and business travellers alike. The planes are configured to carry 333 passengers and mean that Vietnam’s travellers can connect to Japan, Korea and China, easier.
Since it was founded in 1989 as an affiliate of the Evergreen Group, the airline has expanded to include air cargo, catering services, ground handling, and also aviation engineering services. The cargo branch of the company, EVA Air Cargo, links with the aforementioned Evergreen worldwide shipping group to offer complete air, land and sea services. Whilst its regional, domestic subsidiary, UNI Air, controls a medium and short-haul network, offering flights to destinations in Taiwan, Macau and China. This has its main operational base in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In January 2015, EVA Air was named as the third safest airline in the world. This modern airline operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft on its passenger routes. They use the Airbus A330 and the A321, whilst Boeing provides the larger 747 and 777 airliners. Boeing 747 freighters are used on the cargo routes. Always a forward looking company, they received their first Boeing 747-400 aircraft in 1992. These are now being replaced by the brand new 777-300ER, which are fully wifi-equipped, offering passengers a new level of service and comfort. Their premium economy cabin was one of the first in the airline industry and featured a more spacious 2-4-2 seating configuration, leg rests, individual video in the seat backs, and enhanced meal services. The Economy Deluxe cabin, now called "Evergreen Deluxe" and "Elite Class”, has proved highly popular with the travelling public.
Recent innovations have seen new plane paint scheme, new boarding music and improved service on board their latest 777. EVA Air is now a firmly established operator flying worldwide on a daily basis. It has grown a large and loyal customer base who like the flight times, service and safety offered, at highly competitive prices. Passengers travelling from Vietnam to just about anywhere in the world can take advantage of their service.
