Ba Na Hill

A colonial French hill station established in 1919, Ba Na Hill is an immense mountain resort catering to local and foreign vacationers alike. Ascend the lush tropical forest from a non-stop cable car, the longest and highest of its kind in the world.

At the top, the view goes all the way to the coast, surveying Danang and the surrounding areas. While fog banks frequently obscure the panorama, the rich atmosphere they provide makes up for any slight. Like Dalat and Sapa, Ba Na looks just as good in gray as it does in blue.

Either way, there are more than enough attractions to keep you and your family occupied. Still under construction, the Fantasy Park is the perfect playground, a carnival of rides, video games and activities ranging from air hockey to rock climbing. For smaller guests, there is a separate children's area with ball pits and mini sides.

For the spiritually inclined, there is Linh Ung Pagoda with a 27m tall statue of Thich Ca Buddha. History buffs will enjoy tours of deserted French villas and a descent into a historical wine cellar. Nature lovers can scout out the 543 species of flora and 256 species of fauna, a diverse collection including rare plants, pheasants, deer and monkeys.

If you get a bit peckish, dine at one of the many cafes and restaurants scattered about the resort. There are smaller cafes for a quick bite and more polished restaurants for full service.

Spend a day here and you'll be tempted to spend another. Stay overnight at Morin, Le Jardin or L'Indochine, three hotels with superior accommodation. From this luxurious kingdom in the sky, you may even forget that the world below exists.

Ba Na Hill is a recommended attraction in Da Nang for families and couples in particular.
