Gorgeous Garden Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2

Award Winning Pizza and Outstanding Italian Cuisine in Thao Dien

Kids in Saigon Can Learn To Make Pizza With Pendolasco

Whether you are looking to dine in or to relax at home with a take away, Pendolasco has been serving the finest in traditional Italian food in Ho Chi Minh City’s for 20 years. Simple and honest authentic Italian food is what Pendolasco offers and delivers.

Pendolasco’s homemade pizzas are award winning and amongst the very best in Saigon and Vietnam. These delicious pizzas, together with a range of fresh pasta, appetizers and selection of authentic Italian dishes, have made Pendolasco a popular choice for Saigon residents and visitors alike seeking a taste of Italy. Located in the expat-laden Thao Dien area of Saigon’s District 2, Pendolasco’s food is equally delicious enjoyed in the lovely garden ambience of the restaurant or via convenient home delivery straight to your door (one of the quickest in the city). And it's not only the classic pizza and pasta that’s on offer - there is a selection of regional Italian meat and fish dishes, salads and desserts, too.

One of the longest established Italian restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, Pendolasco’s reputation for affordable Italian cuisine has seen the restaurant’s customer base grow significantly. To meet this demand and in order to ensure the highest quality food for dining in or out, Italian owner Carlo Anzon had to look for new premises. Both sides of the business - take away and dine in - are equally important to him.

When looking for an additional location for Pendoasco in Saigon’s District 2, he struck lucky and found a highly attractive, traditional villa where he has created a pretty outdoor dining area in Thao Dien, separate to the delivery operation.

Gorgeous Garden Restaurant in the Heart of Saigon’s District 2

The garden at Pendolasco, with the greenery of trees, hanging plants and flowers, adds greatly to the restaurant’s cozy, family home ambience. It has been a labour of love for Anzon and he is delighted with the customer feedback. Here, you can enjoy al fresco dining in the centre of District 2, tucked away from the noise and dust of the streets in a lovely garden setting. The Mediterranean style furniture is both comfortable and relaxed, creating a casual holiday feel. Tables dotted throughout the garden provide a romantic setting for couples as well as a good option for families or groups of friends looking to enjoy excellent Italian food in a comfortable environment in Thao Dien.

Those wishing to avoid Saigon’s heat and humidity while still enjoying the garden have the option of sitting in the air conditioned conservatory seating, which is also home to the intimate bar. The expansive dining area within the villa itself attracts groups who prefer to focus on their conversations rather than the garden atmosphere. One venue – 3 choices!

Pendolasco’s Mouth-Watering Menu - Authentic Italian Cuisine in Ho Chi Minh City

Pendolasco serves an outstanding selection of authentic, traditional Italian dishes from a variety of regions in Italy. Current top favourites at Pendolasco, Anzon shares, are the caprese salad (fresh mozzarella with three kinds of tomatoes), veal cutlet Milan-style and tiramisu, as well as the award-winning pizzas and homemade pastas and sauces. The classic carbonara and amatriciana dishes are among the most frequently ordered by Saigon’s discerning foodies.

New and unique to Pendolasco is Pizza Pala. Made from higher grade flour, the base is lighter and crispier - ideal for more delicate and sophisticated toppings such as truffle oil and salmon. Oval in shape, the Pizza Pala is perfect for sharing between two and splitting the toppings. Only available on Fridays and Saturdays, Pizza Pala has proved to be a popular addition to Pendolasco’s menu - to try it, you’ll need to order early as a limited quantity of fresh dough is prepared each evening. Specials are changed every 15 days to keep the menu fresh and Anzon has plans to include more veal dishes. For those with food intolerances, there are a number of gluten free and vegetarian options. A weekday lunchtime set menu is also available as well as children’s portions for youngsters, which are both in-demand options in Saigon.

Premium Wines by the Glass - an Unexpected Bonus for Saigon

Pendolasco is proud to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of premium wines by the glass in its Thao Dien location. This recent initiative adds a nice twist to an already excellent wine list for a family-style restaurant in Saigon and is an unexpected bonus for wine lovers. Having enjoyed your glass, you are invited to leave the bottle in Pendolasco’s temperature-controlled cellar for your next visit or take it home to enjoy there. Soft drinks, beer and other alcoholic drinks are also available as well as great coffee to finish off your meal in true Italian style.

Pendolasco Brings Pizza-Making to Young Chefs in District 2

Pendolasco’s philosophy of food as a shared experience, where people come together through a passion for high quality cuisine, is also reflected in their Thao Dien pizza-making classes available for kids aged 5 to 12. These classes take place regularly and many children from schools in Saigon’s District 2 have taken part. Dressed in mini-sized Pendolasco aprons, they learn food hygiene basics and how to measure and combine ingredients to make their very own pizza. Upon finishing, the youthful chefs sit down family-style to enjoy their creations. This allows parents in Ho Chi Minh City to offer their children a refreshing alternative to life in the classroom and a chance to be creative.

Future plans for this Popular Saigon Italian Restaurant

Pendolasco is a successful combination of tradition, passion and innovation. This Italian restaurant has stood the test of time in Saigon - no mean feat in the city’s ever growing and competitive foodie scene. Its ambience, like the cuisine, is simple, honest and comfortable - there is no trendy architectural theme to distract from the flavour of the dishes. This doesn’t mean Pendolasco is complacent – far from it. There are plans to further enhance the garden dining area, renovate to improve the comfort and acoustics of the indoor space, and to add exciting new dishes to the menu.
