A Gastronomic Tour at Saigon Kitchen Buffet at Hôtel des Arts Saigon
Saigon Kitchen, an all-day dining restaurant and buffet restaurant, is perfect for all occasions. Located at 5-star boutique property Hôtel des Arts Saigon, its exquisitely crafted menu is designed to impress both local and foreign diners.
Indochinese vibes can be felt immediately upon entering the restaurant. The interior of Saigon Kitchen Restaurant was envisioned as a marriage between modern simplicity and a traditional Vietnamese wooden home. The resulting atmosphere is warm and chic with touches of whimsy in the mismatched chairs that work to create an upscale street market vibe. The fusion of Asian and European delights displayed at the buffet also work to create a feeling of East meets West opulence.
Local Ingredients Create 5-Star Flavours at Saigon Kitchen Restaurant
While we sat down to experience the restaurant’s Chic Buffet Lunch, which runs from 12pm - 2pm daily, Head Chef Egidio Latorraca shared his inspiration with us.
“Our menu depends on fresh supply. For example, we have snakehead fish and frog legs [today]. Very good local ingredients.”
Local vegetables at Saigon Kitchen Restaurantare acquired from the dreamy highlands of Dalat, a region known for having the highest-quality greens in the country. As a 5-star Accor hotel in Vietnam, food quality is critical for all of the restaurants at Hôtel Des Arts. Beyond flavour, the cuisine offered here is safe, nourishing and appealing to a variety of diners.
An Ode to Vietnamese Street Food at Hôtel des Arts Saigon Saigon Kitchen
Chef Egidio’s 20 years of culinary experience have placed him in professional kitchens in Milan, Paris, London, Sydney, Hong Kong and now Vietnam. He takes a creative approach at Saigon Kitchen Restaurant utilising his fine-dining knowledge and combining it with his love of the local cuisine.
One signature dish, the salmon pho, uses the authentic base of this traditional Vietnamese soupwhile taking it to another level of refinement with thin slices of top quality salmon cooked gently in the flavourful broth. The creativity of this dish really pays off with its sophisticated yet comforting flavour profile.
The restaurant runs on a semi-rotational system, keeping some regular favourites everyday and showcasing new dishes which utilise the freshest finds for the enjoyment of guests.
“We don’t do buffets for huge crowds. [That is why] we are able to customise”, Chef Egidio explained.
A wide range of Hue-style Vietnamese rice cakes and the fragrant banh khot pancakes are also a great addition for diners looking for high quality, truly traditional options. During our visit, we were lucky enough to sample memorable international specials such as the octopus sauteed in chimichurri sauce and chicken masala.
Some fixed regional themed counters include an excellent sushi and sashimi bar, cold cut and cheese bar, as well as a barbecued meat counter, which are a draw for those interested in seeing their food prepared to their liking in the open-kitchen.
Be sure to end any meal at Saigon Kitchen Restaurant majestically with Chef Egidio’s delectable range of desserts, including his rich dark chocolate orange mousse cake. A luxurious reminder of his Italian heritage perhaps?
At Saigon Kitchen Restaurant, the meal is all about the experience.
