Minh Long was founded in 1970 by Mr. Ly Ngoc Minh, a young man devoted to creating exquisite porcelain. Their works are pieces of art, often given as national gifts during overseas visits.
They call him "the Edison of Vietnam" or "King of Vietnamese ceramics" with the power to turn “dust” into “gold". This is the summary of Mr. Ly Ngoc Minh, Founder of Minh Long I Co. Ltd.
The story of Minh Long Ceramics is a journey of a small speck of dust which was born out of the marriage between sky and earth, formed, embedded in glaze and baked in a holy fire of 1,380 ˚C, then decorated and finally brightened with the Vietnamese soul.
Minh Long has developed a characteristic style passed down through generations. The diverse products are highlighted in a new HCMC showroom that spans over two floors. From functional dinner sets to sculptures and spectacular hand-painted vases, the attention to artistry is legendary. Many of the pieces have a distinctive Vietnamese flavour and take inspiration from Saigon daily life. Minh Long also has a shop in Hanoi.
Mr Ly Huy Sang represents the fourth generation of Minh Long I. Leveraging its international recognition, the century-old business decided to branch out into a new endeavour: The Golden Spoon contest. The aim is to bring together Vietnam’s budding chef talent to position Vietnamese cuisine within the world’s kitchen.
In Saigon you can buy elegant pre-made ceramics from Minh Long I at their HCMC showroom at Minh Long Tower in District 3. Alternatively, check out the do-it-yourself corner at their ceramic centre at Minh Sang Plaza in Binh Duong. Pick a design, grab some colours and make your own souvenir to take back to your friends at home. They'll love it.
