Ho Tram is a small beach town about 125 km to the southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The completion of a new highway means that this is now less than a two hour drive. The beaches are pristine and the water quality is excellent. Just along the coast is the well known resort town of Vung Tau, 90 minutes from Ho Chi Minh City by hydrofoil. This has traditionally been the weekend getaway haunt for many of Saigon’s residents. However it looks set to share some of its visitors as Ho Tram’s development moves on at a rapid pace.
There are several resorts at Ho Tram. The Ho Tram Beach Resort and Spa opened in 2006 and is the only hotel actually on Ho Tram Beach. However, it was the building of the huge Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino Vietnam that has really given the area a lift. The 5 star, 541 room hotel is of exceptional standards and the recently opened golf course, The Bluffs, has raised the bar even higher. The course was recently named the “World’s Best New Golf Course” at the World Golf Awards in Portugal. The second phase of the hotel is currently underway, which will take the number of rooms up to 1,100.
Other close by resorts include the Vietsovpetro, The Sanctuary, Huong Phong Ho Coc and the Hoang Chanh Tri Hotel. The Nha Hang Ho Tram is a well-liked barbecue restaurant, just in from the coast. The development of this whole area resembles that of Las Vegas and Macau in their early stages. The superb climate, warm and mainly dry, and clean warm seas are a huge plus. It is expected that this will become one of the premier resort in Vietnam over the coming years.
