It all started fifteen years ago when Briton Jeremy Stein set up the first PADI dive centre in town. Now, there are around 12 dive shops proving just how popular diving is here.
The best time to dive is between March and October with June, July and August boasting clear and warm waters. Water temperature ranges from 22 to 29 degrees with visibility fluctuating between five and 20 metres. Those looking for big, bad sea creatures like sharks and manta rays won't find them here. What are on offer, however, are lion fish, scorpion fish, colourful sea slugs, moray eels, cuttle fish and the occasional sting ray and turtle.
There are 21 dive sites in Nha Trang. The best is Electric Nose, a 45-minute boat ride away.
