A slice of Japan on the Ham Tien-Mui Ne strip, Tamago is the only 'real' Japanese restaurant in town. Other places might offer some sushi and what have you, but Tamago is the full deal with a wide range of Japanese dishes ranging from sashimi and maki rolls to ramen and okonomiyaki. Vegetarians are also catered for. Ingredients are all imported from Japan.
The simple yet polished décor is a reflection of the clean and refined tastes one will find at Tamago. There's cosy indoor seating and an outdoor area, and private rooms will be added in future. The restaurant stocks a wide range of sakes and beer.
Tamago (Japanese for "egg") is open from 11am to 11pm. There's a buffet lunch on Sunday, and Thursday night is yakitori night.
Red Charcoal restaurant next door is owned and managed by the same people and specialises in traditional Vietnamese food.
