Open since 2009, Vietnam Home 1 at 125A Nguyen Dinh Chieu has offered some of the best home-style Vietnamese cuisine along the Phan Thiet-Mui Ne Strip. Set in an airy, traditional-style Vietnamese thatched building, the restaurant has a wide range of international and Vietnamese dishes and is a favourite among tour groups visiting the area.
If you've ever wanted to try crocodile (as Russian tour groups do), stuffed sea snails or lizard (a Vietnamese speciality), you've come to the right place. If you cannot decide from the à la carte menu, go for one of the set menus with a range of tasty dishes that are not necessarily as 'exotic'. There's an all-you-can-eat buffet complete with crocodile every Thursday, and a range of very affordable wines to complement your meal.
The ground floor has open and covered seating, as does the pleasant terrace on the first floor.
Vietnam Home's souvenir shop sells crocodile-skin products and other interesting items - worth a look.
Vietnam Home has recently opened a second branch, Vietnam Home 2, further west along the Strip at 53 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, which offers similar dishes. Set on an upper floor with the same thatched building style, it is an airy place with a delightfully cool breeze.
