In such a small and quiet area, there are not many serious practical concerns. The first consideration is how to arrive. Most travellers use buses as there is no nearby airport and the train station is buried inside Phan Thiet city. In contrast, buses will drop you off right at your resort for the same price, saving you the cost of a taxi trip.

Once you’re here, getting around is no problem. The resort strip is short enough that almost everything is accessible within walking distance, although some of the attractions and venues are a little further out. Speed things up with a bicycle or even a motorbike. The amount of buses complicates matters, but the roads are considerably easier to navigate than almost any other major destination in the country. With speed restriction getting enforced in Vietnam, count not less than 5 hours to reach Phan Thiet from Ho Chi Minh City.

ATMs, pharmacies and tour operators are scattered up and down Nguyen Dinh Chieu, clustering more in the centre of Ham Tien. If you are planning on seeing a few sights, visit multiple travel offices and shop around for the right tour at the right price. Most hotels can also book excursions.

The climate is moderate to hot with ocean breezes cooling things down at night.
