Although it’s the second-largest of all the Phan Thiet wards and communes, Thien Nghiep has the lowest population density of around 75 people per square kilometre. Located north of Ham Tien and west of Mui Ne, Thien Nghiep Commune is where the new Phan Thiet Airport will be located.
Thien Nghiep Commune is home to around 6,000 residents and is mostly made up of small farms and households. There are also a number of vacation rentals and villas spread throughout the commune, plus a small inland resort. Most of the vacation rentals and villas have no names and are rented through vacation rental websites. However, resorts such as Maison Thien Nghiep, Villa Kunterbunt Mui Ne, Areca Resort and Villa Ombre Du Vent are among the most popular.
Villa Ombre Du Vent is located on Ho Quang Canh Street and the Areca Resort is located a bit further up Ho Quang Canh Street. Just past Areca Resort is the road leading to the original Thien Nghiep farmer’s market and a local flea market.
North of Vo Nguyen Giap on highway #715 is a childcare center called Elements, where tourists with small children can leave their children for the day to enjoy some peace and quiet as a couple.
The farmers in Thien Nghiep raise everything from crocodiles to pigs, cows, chickens and ducks, plus they grow many varieties of tropical fruits and vegetables. The crocodile farm is probably the largest farm in the commune, with over a thousand crocodiles that are sold to restaurants all over Vietnam for their meat. The farm is located above the Fairy Stream, and tourists have sometimes spotted small crocodiles swimming in the stream or sunning themselves on shore, especially after heavy rain. Most of the other farms in the commune are small, and their animals and produce are either for their own use or sold in the markets around Phan Thiet.
A new and still-small farmer's’ market has sprung up in Thien Nghiep Commune where the local residents and farmers can sell their goods. The new market is about two kilometres north of Vo Nguyen Giap on highway #715 – the main road through Thien Nghiep Commune. Further up are the Thien Nghiep administrative centre and the new Phan Thiet airport.
